I learnt a valuable lesson today. Do not run in an area or suburb which has the word “hills” in it. Especially if you are piggy-backing a Backstreet Boy. I learnt today that town planners don’t name a place like Robin Hills Robin Hills because of its lovely flat terrain. They called it Robin Hills because Read more…

Joburg Day 2009

Joburg Day 2009
I have been trying today to calculate how many Joburg Day’s I have been involved with. I think this one was my seventh. They all tend to blend into one to tell you the truth. Although, in saying that I think Joburg Day 2009 will always stand out for a few reasons. The first reason Read more…
Running with Music
Former nine times Comrades marathon winner Bruce Fordyce has had a go at runners who run with mp3 players for company in a recent blog. I must confess that I am one of the runners he is having a dig at. The vast majority of my training Read more…

Kids say the funniest things
I’ve been asked some strange questions in my life. But this morning I got asked the strangest one yet. My son woke me and asked, “Dad, can I get a paintball gun so that we can get chickens?” I was still half asleep so I’m not sure if I had heard him correctly. I asked him to repeat himself and the exact same question came out of his mouth. Now the logical question I’m sure in response to that is “Why?”. Read more…
