Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge 2010

Momentum 94.7 Cycle ChallengeThe Momentum 94.7 Cycle Challenge is approaching fast and I see more and more people out on the roads starting to get active. I hope your training is going well (if you’ve started) and if you haven’t, don’t stress too much about it, there is still time to build up nicely in order to have a great ride. My PinkDrive charity initiative is starting to pick up some momentum (excuse the pun) but we are nowhere near close to where we want it to be. So, if I can ask you a massive favour, please can you continue helping me getting the word out there that we, as a group, are trying to raise at least a million rand at this year’s cycle challenge. The money is going towards a great cause and if we can raise the million we will be able to buy another educational truck for the PinkDrive. If you can forward this link onto anyone and everyone you know who is riding the race, is thinking of riding the race or who has ever thought about riding it. In a nutshell it’s pretty easy to get involved. All you need to do is raise R3 000 for the PinkDrive. As a PinkDrive group we have an awesome start time, you’ll get cycling kit to show you’re part of the group and you’ll get to ride along side some South African celebs that have also committed to ride in support of breast cancer. All the details you need are here, Brad Brown’s Cycle Challenge Initiative and check out Race 4 Charity to see how easy it is to raise the required money for charity

Website Design Business

It has been quite a busy holiday period for me actually. Once again this year I decided to work right through (I actually love Joburg over the festive season, it is so quiet). I had a few weeks of filling in for the Rude Awakening on 94.7 Highveld Stereo which I really loved.

The new CSD website

The new CSD website

But over and above that I did a lot of work for my website design business, CSD.  2009 was an interesting year for CSD, we picked up a quite a few clients who needed some website design done but most of them were referrals from existing CSD clients. I think CSD has a pretty unique product offering with regards to leasing your website as opposed to owning it and I think 2010 is really the year to focus and get it off the ground in a big way.

The first thing that was done was that the design of the CSD website was redone in its entirety.  I love the new design. I think it’s fresh and really show cases what we can do for our clients. We have also put together a couple of video presentations explaining what the advantages are of having a website and also if you really need a website.

It is now time to get out there and make 2010 count! If you or anyone requires any web design, logo design, web site hosting or website SEO please feel free to give CSD a shout.

2010 and my hopes for the next decade

I can hardly believe it’s 2010 already. New years celebrations are always bitter sweet for me. I love the fact that it is an opportunity to start anew. Set new goals for a new year, especially at the start of a year like 2010. It is going to be a massive year for South Africa. It is also the start of a new decade which means even more chances to plan and strategise for the next 10 years. But at the same time I find a new year slightly Read more…

My Injury

I’m a bit bleak this morning. I’m not bleak because I’m on air on 94.7 Highveld Stereo, I love that. I’m bleak because I actually put in a days leave for today so that I could run my first half marathon since coming out of retirement (lol). I’m on air this morning and not running because I’ve done some damage to my left foot. I spent the week in and out of doctor’s rooms and x-ray departments to figure out what I have done to it. I was really concerned that it was a stress fracture Read more…

This Weeks Training

The weather this week played havoc with my raining plans. With two weeks to go to the Roy Brown memorial half marathon I really wanted to run the 15km night race last Wednesday in Benoni just to see how I would cope with a slightly longer distance. I was really nervous the first half of the week leading into it, but Wednesday morning arrived and the weather was shocking. I decided not to risk getting sick by running in the cold and wet conditions. That left me with a huge dilemma as Read more…

Participants at the 2009 Hospice Spinnathon

The Hospice Spinathon 2009 was held on Saturday 7 December 2009 at the Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton. I try and help Hospice whenever I can, I think they are a great organisation and they do such great things in our community. Not only do they help people who are really ill they also help their family members and those left behind deal with the grief of losing a loved one. It is an organisation that is really close to my heart and that is why I help them whenever I can. I’m not sure how many Hospice Spinathons I’ve been involved in but I know it’s been a few. The turn out this year was once again pretty good on top of mc’ing at the event, my colleague from Read more…

Joburg Day 2009

Joburg Day 2009

Joburg Day 2009

I have been trying today to calculate how many Joburg Day’s I have been involved with. I think this one was my seventh. They all tend to blend into one to tell you the truth. Although, in saying that I think Joburg Day 2009 will always stand out for a few reasons. The first reason Read more…

Just putting it out there

I always think it’s important to put things out there that you want to happen or that you want to achieve in your life. It puts a bit of pressure on you that you can’t back down. I did it when I first started in radio; I remember writing an essay at varsity about where we wanted to be in 5 years. One of the things I wrote was that I was going to be on 94.7 Highveld Stereo. I put it out there and it happened.
