If you know me you’d know that I’m pretty laid back and not much fazes me but there is one thing that really grates my carrot. I fully understand why shopping malls have disabled parking spaces right outside the front door. It is to help make the disabled have a slightly more pleasant shopping experience. I think that it is common decency to respect others enough, especially those that are disabled, to not park in the disabled parking space if you are able bodied. I see able bodied people parking in these spots quite often and more so at this time of the year when our malls are busy with people doing their Christmas shopping. I really feel it is up to the rest of us to embarrass transgressors enough that the next time they consider parking in a disabled parking space they think twice about it. I dare you, in fact I triple dare you to scream as loud as you can the next time you see an able bodied person parking in the disable parking “It’s a miracle! You can walk!!! Praise (insert whoever you praise here), it’s a miracle”. That should get some kind of reaction. Go on, I dare you.
Randfontein Public Safety Vehicle Parked in the Disabled Parking at Keywest in Krugersdorp
I was shopping at Keywest Shopping Centre in Krugersdorp on Tuesday (15 December) when I came across this vehicle in the disabled parking outside one of the entrances. If the photo is not clear enough it is a Randfontein Public Safety vehicle (RXB147GP). I think it’s superb that Randfontein are employing disabled people but I would feel slightly safer if they employed able bodied individuals to project the public and used the disabled in a more administrative role. Not sure how you feel about it?
