I’m a bit bleak this morning. I’m not bleak because I’m on air on 94.7 Highveld Stereo, I love that. I’m bleak because I actually put in a days leave for today so that I could run my first half marathon since coming out of retirement (lol). I’m on air this morning and not running because I’ve done some damage to my left foot. I spent the week in and out of doctor’s rooms and x-ray departments to figure out what I have done to it. I was really concerned that it was a stress fracture of one of the little bones in my foot but after the x-rays and scans turns out nothing is broken.
I have been diagnosed with peroneal tendonitis, which is still quite serious and requires some rest and rehab but thankfully nothing is broken.

Peroneal Tendonitis
What I am going to need to do is not run for a good few weeks but in the meantime I will be trying to maintain and improve my fitness on my mountain bike (Which by the way I nearly killed myself on on Friday afternoon!). I’m also hoping to be able to get in the pool this week to build up a bit of strength in my foot before hitting the road again. I’m starting to think this injury is a bit of a blessing in disguise. At first I was really bummed that I’ve hurt myself and not able to run, but I think it is forcing me to cross train and that can only improve my general fitness and running in the long term.
