Hilly Places

I learnt a valuable lesson today. Do not run in an area or suburb which has the word “hills” in it. Especially if you are piggy-backing a Backstreet Boy. I learnt today that town planners don’t name a place like Robin Hills Robin Hills because of its lovely flat terrain. They called it Robin Hills because it has beautiful rolling hills.

I found that out the hard way today. I thought it might be fun to run in a different suburb to what I normally run in. I was horribly mistaken, fun it was not. Painful, yes. Tiring, absolutely. Fun, not a sausage! I also learnt today that if you run down a hill there is a very good chance you’re going to have to run back up it to get back to where you started. Which creates a very interesting dilemma, is it best to go downhill at the start of a run and then climb to get back or climb to start and then freewheel back? I have thought the suburb name thing through a bit further to. I think “berg” would not be a good idea, neither would “canyon”. “Kloof” is also a definite no no. The more I think about it the more I’m considering looking for my dream home on the Cape Flats.
